As part of this transformation, BNB is fully digitizing and automating its financial systems to build a data-driven, paperless financial management model. The school also promotes the Happy School concept—prioritizing wellbeing, fairness, motivation, and inclusive leadership across its community.

BNB is seeking a results-oriented and technology-savvy Finance Director to lead the modernization of its financial systems and ensure sustainable, transparent financial management from its campus in Hawassa City, Sidama Region.

Position Summary

The Finance Director is responsible for overseeing all financial operations of the school, including budgeting, accounting, reporting, compliance, and strategic financial planning. The role has a strong focus on digital transformation—implementing technology-driven financial systems, automation, and real-time reporting to improve efficiency and transparency.

The ideal candidate will bring a blend of strategic financial insight, digital fluency, and strong ethical leadership to help BNB achieve its mission and vision of a Happy, equitable, and high-performing institution.

Key Responsibilities

Digital Financial Management

• Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of fully digitized financial systems and workflows.
• Select and manage financial software, ERP, and cloud-based accounting platforms.
• Develop automated tools for real-time financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Ensure accurate, timely, and accessible digital financial records for decision-making.
• Maintain data integrity, security, and reliable backup systems.

Financial Strategy & Oversight

• Prepare and monitor annual, quarterly, and monthly budgets aligned with the school's strategic priorities.
• Analyze and report on financial performance, cash flow, and cost efficiency.
• Advise senior leadership on financial planning, investment opportunities, and risk management.
• Ensure compliance with Ethiopian tax laws, regulations, and audit standards.
• Liaise with external auditors and ensure audit readiness.

Policies, Manuals, and Internal Controls

• Develop and maintain financial policies, manuals, and procedures in line with best practices.
• Integrate financial tools and policies into digital platforms and train staff in their effective use.
• Monitor internal controls and continuously improve systems for transparency and accountability.

Qualifications and Competencies

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (Master's preferred).
• Professional certification such as CPA, ACCA, CFA, or equivalent is highly desirable.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in a senior finance role, preferably in the education or service sector.
• Proven experience implementing digital financial systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Peachtree, Sage, SAP, ERP platforms).
• Strong knowledge of automated accounting, cloud-based financial tools, and data analytics.
• Excellent analytical, leadership, and organizational skills.
• Strong knowledge of Ethiopian financial regulations and compliance requirements.
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Demonstrated commitment to ethical leadership, equity, and inclusive organizational culture.
• Fluency in English (written and spoken).
